After careful consideration and discussions with the Board, Michael Hartman has decided to step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skills Insight.

After 24 years of service as a CEO supporting industry engagement in the VET sector, Michael remains committed to the Jobs and Skills Council program but has decided that the demands of a CEO role are no longer consistent with his other objectives in life.

Skills Insight will commence the search for a new CEO in April with an appointment targeted for the start of the financial year.

Michael will remain fully engaged with his existing responsibilities until a new CEO is appointed and inducted into the position.

Chair of our Board, Todd Loydell said Michael’s commitment to Skills Insight’s mission and vision has been unwavering, and his contributions will be deeply missed by all.

“Michael’s exceptional leadership has been pivotal to our success as an organisation over the years, firstly as the founding CEO of Skills Impact, then in securing the grant contract for the Jobs and Skills Council Program and subsequently dedicating more than two years to establishing and achieving operational excellence for Skills Insight,” said Todd.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Michael for his service and wish him the very best as he steps into the next chapter of his life. While Michael plans to take a well-deserved break, he has expressed interest in considering other opportunities to support VET Sector reform in 2026 in a part time, smaller role. Michael has worked with the board to provide many months of advance notice to ensure a seamless transition to new leadership for Skills Insight.”

Further updates regarding the recruitment process for this critical role will be shared in due course.
