AgriFutures identified enhancing biosecurity as one of the key priorities of the poultry industry in its 2022-2027 Chicken Meat Program Research Development and Extension Plan.
To support this goal, Skills Insight and MINTRAC are undertaking this project to deliver free workshops for chicken meat and egg producers around the country and online. Workshops will focus on the role of on-farm flock safety measures in safeguarding the biosecurity of the broader industry.
A key element of the project is bringing together producers across a region to collaborate and share best practice. Participants will also create or review their on-farm Biosecurity Management Plans.
The project team will follow up to assess the impact of the workshops and deliver a report on project outcomes to the Department of Employment and Workforce Relations (DEWR).
Findings from this project will be used to inform future work to support biosecurity skills across the industries Skills Insight serves.
