This project seeks solutions to the challenge RTOs face in accessing suitable trees for training and assessment.
A Tree Allocation Protocol was drafted to create a broad framework for RTOs to collaborate with forest managers, government departments, and other relevant stakeholders to source trees for training purposes.
The Protocol and template agreement were piloted across national locations from November to December 2025. Feedback from the pilots is now being used to finalise the Protocol, a template agreement and support materials.
A final report on outcomes will be published on the project page in March 2026.
Training for RTOs will also be available on use of the Protocol and support materials to secure lawful, safe, culturally respectful, and practical access to trees for nationally recognised training and assessment.
