Thank you to all stakeholders who have participated in conversations about how to better support VET Workforce attraction and retention in regional, rural and remote Australia.
Insights from early conversations with registered training organisations (RTOs) have been synthesised in an interim report; presenting the challenges and current approaches to recruiting and retaining VET educators in regional, rural and remote locations.
Throughout May, we also hosted weekly online brainstorming sessions to continue this conversation around five themes:
- addressing the administrative burden
- funding of programs
- opportunities for industry support
- complexity of the VET system
- the trainer and assessor role.
Findings from the report and brainstorming sessions are being used to inform next steps, with targeted consultations underway to explore existing successful strategies and how they might be generalised or adapted.
