After extensive discussions with a number of First Nations organisations, the First Nations Workers Alliance (FNWA) has become an Industry Member of Skills Insight, and a participant in the JSC Stakeholder Forum. The FNWA was established by the Australian Council of Trade Unions and operates as a voice for Aboriginal and Torres Straits workers who do not have access to existing union support through industry-based bodies. As a result, it is an organisation with extensive cross-sectoral coverage and networks extending to First Nations communities throughout Australia.
The FNWA will appoint a representative and proxy for the JSC Stakeholder Forum, joining the National Farmers Federation, Australian Forest Products Association, Australian Workers Union, Seafood Industry Australia, the Construction, Forestry and Marine Employees Union (Manufacturing Division), Racing Australia, Australian Meat Industry Council and the Australian Meat Employees Union as bodies with existing networks providing support for the JSC.
