There are many successful instances of collaboration across Australia’s vocational education (VET) system that help learners to find training and employment, training organisations to find learners, and employers to find skilled employees. However, in some industries there are particular challenges in bringing together learners, employers and RTOs.
The racing and breeding industry is one example where programs have been established to address these barriers to support improved collaboration and access to training.
Skills Insight is undertaking a project to consult with stakeholders about how these programs are offering solutions and what would need to be considered if similar programs were implemented more broadly across the racing and breeding industry and other industries.
At the end of the project we will produce a report, outlining the findings from our consultations and advice on how to support improved connections between employers, learners and RTOs.
We welcome your feedback at any time throughout the project by emailing Ruth Geldard at [email protected]

Workshops
Consultation workshops are being hosted in Queensland and Western Australia, two states where there is a significant racing and breeding industry, but no delivery of certain qualifications. At these workshops we will discuss existing programs, what barriers there might be to establishing similar programs in other states, and solutions to these barriers.
