Two new skill sets for frame and truss manufacturing are now available within the FWP Forest and Wood Products Training Package and are available for RTOs to add to their scope of registration. They were developed by Skills Insight in response to industry feedback about the need for national structured training pathways to attract new workers into timber systems design.
The skill sets are based on and will replace the Victorian-accredited unit 22522VIC Course in Timber Systems. National recognition of the skill sets will benefit learners and the broader industry by offering a clear pathway and credit towards the Certificate III in Timber Systems Design.
The skill sets were published on the National Training Register on 27 September 2024:
- FWPSS00077 Introduction to Timber Systems Design – Workplace Practices Skill Set
- FWPSS00078 Introduction to Timber Systems Design – Technical Application Skill Set
An updated Implementation Guide is also available on VETNet.
