Australia’s food system is essential to Australian life, culture and the economy. It is dependent on a skilled workforce to keep it secure, resilient and productive.
The Australian Government is developing Feeding Australia: A National Food Security Strategy, with aims to boost the productivity, resilience and security of our food system.
For the industries we work with, this is a critical opportunity to ensure workforce, skills and training needs are recognised in the strategy.
While the current opportunities to provide feedback come within a limited timeframe, every contribution will help ensure industry needs are reflected in the strategy. You are also welcome to send us your thoughts for future workforce planning at any time.
Opportunities for input:
A discussion paper has been published to seek initial views on priority areas that will shape the scope of the strategy. Feedback is being sought until 5 pm AEST Wednesday 24 September 2025.
A National Food Council is also being established to advise on the development of the strategy. Participants for the council will be selected on the basis of relevant skills, knowledge and experience from across the food system. An expression of interest process is open until 11:59 pm AEST, Wednesday 10 September 2025.
