Project scope and purpose

Updated training and assessment supporting materials are needed following substantial revisions to the AMP Australian Meat Processing Training Package Certificate II qualifications. Release 9.0, published in February 2026, introduced major revisions across 153 units of competency. This included merging and splitting 34 units into 19 new units and deleting three units, as well as changes to qualifications and skill sets. Release 9.1 included further corrections.

Existing training and assessment supporting materials were developed against the superseded version of the Training Package and no longer fully align with the updated qualifications, while some new units have no supporting materials. This creates challenges for RTOs delivering the revised qualifications.

This project aims to deliver a suite of training and assessment supporting materials to assist RTOs with the delivery of the revised qualifications. The supporting materials will help trainers update their knowledge and provide a basis for learner guides, where appropriate.

Consultation approach

A Subject Matter Experts Working Group (SMEWG) has been formed to represent stakeholders and approve key project decisions. Draft materials will be released for broad industry review, with feedback sought on technical accuracy, coverage of unit requirements and compliance with the Standards for RTOs. Feedback will be considered before final approval and publication.

Next steps

The first draft of the training and assessment resources will be completed by 30 September 2026. Afterwards, the draft materials will be released from 30 October for industry review and stakeholder feedback.
