Draft OSCA 2027 update

Category:

Following consultation with stakeholders and consideration of submissions, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has developed a draft Occupation Standard Classification for Australia

(OSCA 2027), which is now available for public consultation until 18 September 2026.

Skills Insight has identified 18 occupations from industries we work with that are affected by the proposed revisions. Among the most notable are changes to the skill level assigned to apiarist and drycleaner, while other occupations are subject to less significant updates.

Stakeholders can review the draft classification and should provide comments directly to the ABS through the ABS consultation hub

The OSCA influences how occupations are recognised in workforce data and considered in workforce planning, skills forecasting, and policy and funding decisions.
