Supporting apprenticeship and traineeship completion rates is a priority for the furnishing industry, to promote a skilled and sustainable workforce.
Many employers in the industry are small businesses and experience barriers to providing the full range of support learners require.
To assist with this, Skills Insight and FurnishingWorks (a division of ForestWorks) are undertaking a project to develop best-practice guidance materials for employing apprentices in the furnishing industry.
A Steering Committee is currently being established to guide the project. This includes the development of initial draft materials, which will be made available for broad stakeholder feedback later in the project.
Once finalised, the guidance materials will be made freely available for employers to use.
