This new project is examining how vocational education and training (VET) decision‑making can better address the needs of regional, rural and remote Australia. Current reliance on enrolment data can mask real demand, limiting visibility of the skills needed to support critical industries. This feasibility study will explore whether alternative data sources and emerging technologies can provide a more accurate, place‑based picture of workforce needs.
A research team from Griffith University has been selected to undertake independent research to explore suitable data sources and multi-dimensional decision-making approaches. Findings will help determine whether new approaches could improve access to skills and strengthen outcomes for RRR industries and communities.
